Yado Yakub

Principal

Yado Yakub is an experienced government affairs and business professional with substantive expertise in the legislative and policymaking process, strategic communications, and public relations.

Prior to founding Y2 Global Advisory, Yakub was Senior Strategic Advisor at SAS, the leading data analytics software company. In that role, he engaged U.S. and foreign government officials, trade and development agencies, financial and commercial organizations, academic institutions, and nongovernmental organizations to promote the incorporation of data analytics and artificial intelligence in the sectors of finance, security, health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

Previously, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, advising multinational firms on identifying business opportunities and how to mitigate the political and economic risks involved with new market entry. He also developed programs for foreign governments to reform and modernize their operations in the defense and financial sectors.

Before that, Yakub spent several years working on Capitol Hill—across the aisle and in both chambers. His focus areas were foreign relations, defense, veterans affairs, and trade.

In 2007, he commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps, serving on active duty in the United States and Iraq until 2015. He is now a Lieutenant Colonel in the Reserve, serving as a Judge Advocate (military attorney), Congressional Liaison Officer, and Political-Military Officer for the Middle East, North Africa, and Western Europe.

Yakub holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Miami School of Law. He speaks Arabic and French.
